Albina – ‘Tick-Tock’

Dora 21 concluded with Croatia selecting Albina ‘Tick-Tock’ as their representative for Eurovision 2021.

As the play on words title may suggest (the songwriters perhaps having cleverly sidestepped the rules disallowing brand names), this is a full-on dance number albeit (currently) without a short distinctive routine that could make full use of the association with the aforementioned social media platform. That may change however as the final video and studio versions are yet to be released.

Whilst the Mix and orchestration are very 2021 one has the feeling that lurking behind the smoke and mirrors of the modern contemporary arrangement is a somewhat dated song, that could well have popped up anytime in the last 20 years.

Vocally, Albina certainly appears up to the task of performing on the big stage and it would be no surprise if the song is garners sufficient appeal to see it progress to the final in May.

Good upbeat and happy song that will tag on to the TikTok social media phenomenon.
