ESC Covers has been alerted by various people among them Herluis Rafael and Andy Mikheev that this year there are quite a lot of artists competing in the 2020 Eurovision song contest who are not white and some have AFRICAN roots. With ESC Covers being the only Eurovision website in AFRICA, it seems a good idea to look at some of them.
Starting today for the next week or so, we will look individually at them.
Ben da Silva Cristóvão was born 8 June 1987. He is professionally known as Benny Cristo. He is a Czech singer and sportsman with a Czech mother and an Angolan father. He was a finalist in the talent show Superstar in 2009. In 2010, he released his debut album Definitely Different. He is also a sportsman and has competed in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. On 10 September 2016, he won a bronze medal in a white belt competition. On the 20 November 2016, he was a gold medalist at the Madrid Open-tournament. He will represent Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song “Kemama”.
Benny Cristo will represent Czech Republic with the song Kemama. He won the online national selection with a combination of expert jury and online voting.
