2021 Eurovision in review

Blas Cantó – ‘Voy A Quedarme’

One first listening to ‘Voy A Quedarme’, I couldn’t help but be reminded that back in  2018 France had the opportunity to send a similarly emotionally charged ballad to Eurovision with Seemone ‘ Tous Les Deux’ but the Instagram brigade blew it for France and we will never know how well it would have performed.

Perhaps Blas Cantó’s ‘Voy A Quedarme’ will give us a clue in that regard as what Spain are offered this year is also a very well crafted balled, performed with emotion from a singer who is clearly heavily invested in his own song.

With so few ballads currently selected, this has a good chance to stand out from the crowd in Rotterdam and with Spain having the luxury of pre-qualifying for the final it could well produce their best result of recent years.
