FIRST IMPRESSIONS – SWEDISH SEMI FINAL 4

I have now listened to the 7 songs, the one minute we are allowed
Here are my first impressions
7th place
ALICE – RUNNING WITH LIONS
Unless she is running on stage with some lions, this will make no impression
6th place
JON HENRIK FJALLGREN featuring ANINIA – EN VARLD FULL AV STRIDER
Not bad and it is sung in Swedish, but I feel the two singers do not compliment each other well enough
5th place
LOREEN – STATEMENTS
Sorry I cannot make statements like WOW or FANTASTIC – this is fairly average
4th place
AXEL SCHYLSTROM – NAR INGEN SER
Another song in Swedish – will scrap through to Second chance
3rd place
SARA VARGA & JUHA MULARIS – DU FAR INTE ANDRA PA MIG
These two do compliment each other. It is also another song in Swedish. It is quite good
2nd place
LES GORDONS – BOUND TO FALL
This is really nice and I hope it goes direct to the final
1st place
WIKTORIA – AS I LAY ME DOWN
Not the most easy title but such a catchy little pop song. This is my pick to win this semi final

INTERVIEW – MIRIAM OF IN FUSION

Now we are with the last of the three IN FUSION girls, Miriam and her answers to the questions from ESC Covers and Eurovision South Africa.
1 – NORWAY – since you are Norwegian, what is your best highlight from a Norwegian entry. You could say any artist and this or that song and the reason why
My Norwegian highlight will have to be the semi-finals of Melodi Grand Prix 2011, when the metalband Keep of Kalessin and Alexander Rybak got together and performed “The Divine Land” during the break. I was blown away by the mix of genres and how good they sounded together! I really wish they would get together and do more exciting stuff together! I would definitely buy that record.
2 – SWEDEN – since your composers are Swedish, what is your best highlight from a Swedish entry – the same as with Norway

Sweden have had so many great  entries! BUT my favorite is kind of a guilty pleasure. Im almost embarrassed to say, being a rockchick and all, but I used to dance and sing to this one as a child. I was`t even born when this aired (1984), but Herreys – Diggi-loo diggi-ley was stuck on my mind for a while. So I have to say, it is one of my favorites because I`ve heard it for so long!
Other then that Loreens – Euphoria is my all time favorite Swedish hit song of this era!
3 – EUROVISION – now the same question of a Eurovision entry from any country but Sweden or Norway
How can I possibly chose one!? There are so many amazing memories.
I simply fell in love with last years entry from Belgium, Laura Tesoro with “What`s The Pressure”! Such a catchy song, and Laura was just super-cute with her cool choreography !
But I have to chose Conchita – Rise Like a Phoenix(2014) as the most memorable moment in ESC-history for me! Hands down!
Miriam, thank you for your answers, I too love DIGGI LOO DIGGI LEY and last year when Eurovision was in Stockholm, I took an Afrikaans cover of the song for Richard Herrey who is the CEO of Hard rock cafe there. And Danne was with us at the event, so ask him about it.

INTERVIEW – NINA OF IN FUSION

Nina is the second member of In Fusion to answer the questions from ESC Covers
1. Since you are from NORWAY – what is your best highlight from Norway’s entries at Eurovision
I absolutely love ‘’Secret Garden’’ from 1995. Me and my best friend sometimes lie down with our eyes closed and just listen to it. It’s one of the most magical songs I’ve ever heard.
I also wanna mention that I thought Alexander Rybaks ‘Fairytale’ in 2009 was awesome. Especially because a good friend of mine played violin on stage and I was so proud!2. Since your composers are from SWEDEN – what is your best highlight from Sweden’s entries at Eurovision

From Sweden I love Euphoria by Loreen from 2012. Such a majestic song. I get goosebumps just thinking about her performance. She was barefoot and completely alone on stage, but somehow she filled every corner with her presence. I was blown away.3. Now besides Sweden and Norway, what is your best impression from Eurovision in general

The first song that comes to mind that really made an impression is ‘’Rise Like A Phoenix’’. I thought that was such a powerful song with a powerful performance. Loved it.
Thank you Nina, seems you also like Saima think Loreen is great and Conchita.

INTERVIEW – SAIMA of IN FUSION

ESC Covers and Eurovision South Africa asked 3 questions to the 3 girls who make up the group IN FUSION who will in the Norwegian Eurovision final. Here is the answers from Saima

1 – NORWAY – since you are Norwegian, what is your best highlight from a Norwegian entry?

– The Norwegian entry I remember the most, is from the year 2000.
“Charmed – My heart goes boom”
It’s not because it’s the best song I’ve heard in the contest, but it reminds me of my childhood. Something I really cherish! I was 10 at the time, and me and two of my friends used to record ourselves singing and dancing to this song.

2 – SWEDEN – since your composers are Swedish, what is your best highlight from a Swedish entry?

– Hmm…this one is tricky! Loreen’s performance with “Euphoria” from 2012 was amazing. But if we go back to the 70’s and 80’s and early 90’s, we have ABBA and Carola! I obviously don’t remember this, but I consider them highlights. Waterloo, Främling, Fångad av en stormvind! Songs people still know and sing.

3 – EUROVISION – now the same question of a Eurovision entry from any country but Sweden or Norway

– Conchita Wurst will always be memorable. A reminder that if you set your mind to it, you can do anything.
And who doesn’t remember the Russian babushkas?
And of course we have Céline Dion from 1988. Nobody knew who she was, and look at her now. One of the greatest singers we have!

Thank you so much for this – we agree 90% with you.
