The OGAE Second Chance Contest 2016 kicked off on 1st of June and members of OGAE Rest of the World can still vote! We are now at the halftime – the deadline for send your vote is 30/06/2016 midnight CET.

To vote, you have to rate all the entries, giving them a point between 0 and 5, except the song No. 9 which represents Rest of the World (and of course, Hungary), so if you rate it, it doesn’t count…

POLAND 2003 – new cover

Hello,I’m pleased to announce you that the Polish band Ich Troje recorded my French-English-Esperanto version “Plus de frontières, no more borders” of the song “Keine Grenzen, żadnych granic” with which they represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 in the original German-Polish-Russian version, and that it was included in their latest album “Remixed/Nierdzewny” released on the 10th of June 2016 !

The songwriters of the original version are :
Michał Wiśniewski & Jacek Łągwa & Joachim Horn-Bernges & André Franke.

Ich Troje are, to my knowledge, the first Eurovision artists who record (and release) a version (partially) in Esperanto of the song they competed with !

SONG REVIEW 2016 – SONG 1 – FINLAND

Facebook

Luc Spencer-Gardner
June 10 at 1:14pm
Hello everyone!Apologies for the late start… However here is the first song for review of the performance live. As Roy mentioned, we are commenting on the performance (staging, costume, engagement etc.) and it is 2 points per song per person that chooses to comment.

We will start in the running order of semi finalists who failed to qualify (starting with the first semi) and move into the grand final from there.

We would like to add an additional component. Could we ask that each person places a score between 0 and 10 for each performance through to escvotes@gmail.com.
You can choose to do it song by song or all 42 at once should you wish. At the end of the 42 songs, we will tally up the votes and fund ROW’s favourite song of the year.

So….

Song 1: FINLAND

(15th in semi final 1 : 51 points)
Artist: Sandhja

Song: Sing It Away

Music and Lyric: Sandhja, Milos Rosas, Heikki Korhonen, Petri Matara, Markus Savijoki

SONG REVIEWS – EUROVISION 2016 IN STOCKHOLM

As of tomorrow, the review of the 42 songs of the 2016 EUROVISION SONG CONTEST will start. Luc and Ronny will again be in charge of that.
The songs will be reviewed 1 per day over 42 days. The order is first the songs that FAILED to qualify to the final and then the 26 songs of the final in starting order.
Points will be up for grabs – 2 points per comment, so if you do all 42, you can get a massive 84 points towards the ticket list for 2017. Talking of that, Marcus will any day now publish a detail post on the way the ticket policy and the points system will work.
Now we know that about 10% of our members do not have facebook for whatever reason. We do not want to exclude them. If you know of someone who is a member but not on facebook, please tell such a person of the song reviews. I will each day mention which song is being discussed on facebook on the website ESC COVERS. People without facebook can then send their comment to either me, Luc or Ronny and we will publish it on your behalf.
Comments now to the songs are based on the performance on stage in Stockholm, so you also need to comment on the staging, the clothes, the backing singers/dancers etc.
Luc will also write about his idea to award points – I will leave it to him to explain.
Of course we would like you to comment as quickly as possible, but we know some may have just time once a week and then do the 7 songs of that week. But the points will close 7 days after the review of the last song (song 42), so any comments after that will not receive points.
