Spain reveals JESC 2020 participant

RTVE Spain has revealed that Soleá will represent them at Junior Eurovision 2020.

According to the press release issued on the official Junior Eurovision website ‘Soleá Fernandez Moreno was born in Sevilla on 19 June 2011 and comes from one of the most important flamenco families in Spain’

RTVE will work with Soleá  on the official song, which will be revealed in due course.

Major changes for Junior Eurovision format announced.

In a statement released earlier today the format of this years competition has been announced.

Contest Executive Supervisor Martin Österdahl announced  “Travel restrictions and the ongoing issues relating to the COVID-19 pandemic mean regrettably we cannot bring all the artists to Poland to compete in person at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year,”

As a result, and in order to ensure that the contest goes ahead, for the first time, all participants will broadcast their songs from their home countries.

The Live show will be broadcast from the TVP studio’s in Poland with performances from the various participating countries being streamed in.

To ensure fairness each country has agreed  ‘a similar stage layout and technical set up to capture the performance of their artist(s).’

Alexander Balabanov Wins Ukraine selection

Unconfirmed reports are that  Alexander Balabanov (Олександр Балабанов) has won the Ukraine selection for Junior Eurovision.

With only the jury voting being known, it would now appear that it is impossible for Alexander to be overtaken when the public vote closes tomorrow and therefore he will represent Ukraine in Junior Eurovision 2020.

The official result is due to be announced later this week.

Alexander (14)  who also took part in the selection process in 2018 and 2019, will now have the opportunity to represent his country with the song ‘open’ (Відкривай)

Germany Selects Susan for Junior Eurovision

Susan ‘Stronger with you’ has been chosen by the German jury to represent her country at Junior Eurovision 2020.

The two one hour special shows broadcast on German children’s network KIKA, concluded with ‘Stronger with you’  being chosen as the song and Susan as the performer to go on to Warsaw in November and be the first to represent her country at Junior Eurovision.

Efi Gjika releases cover of ‘Rise Up’

Efi Gjika who represented Albania at the 2018 Junior Eurovision with ‘Barbie’ shows off her vocal talents on her latest cover video ‘Rise up’

The song was voted for by her Instagram fans as the one they would most like to see Efi cover and earlier this week Efi released the video on YouTube.

Showcasing her maturing vocal talents, the song is an impressive cover of the original by Andra Day

Kazakhstan and Malta announce shortlisted contestants.

Both Malta and Kazakhstan have today announced the lucky artists that will compete for a chance to represent their countries at Junior Eurovision 2020.

Ukraine Selects 11 Shortlist Finalists for Junior Eurovision

Ukraine has selected the 11 artists that will complete for the honor of representing the country at Junior Eurovision 2020 in Warsaw, Poland.

Voting will take place online in early September with the winner being selected by a combination of the online votes and those if the professional jury.

Germany reveals details of Junior hopefuls

In an announcement on the official Junior Eurovision channel earlier today, it was announced that over 70 entrants hoping to represent the country at Junior Eurovision, had been whittled down to five:

Linnea May (13, from Friedrichsdorf in Hessen)
Malaika (14, from Herrsching in Bayern)
Davit (12, from Neustadt in Rheinland-Pfalz)
Leroy Kay (13, from Neuruppin in Brandenburg)
Susan (13, from Berlin)

The five remaining contestants will now perform before a panel of judges, who will decide the contestant that will represent Germany for the first time at Junior Eurovision.

T.V Channel KIKA will be following the process in two special shows ‘Junior Eurovision Song Contest – Das Casting’ which will air at 20:00 on the 1st and 2nd September.

Kazakhstan announce 30 qualifiers for Junior Eurovision

Kazakhstan today announced the 30 qualifiers who will compete to represent the country at Junior Eurovision 2020 in Warsaw, Poland.

From an initial application of 684, the judging panel have selected the 30 children who will move onto the next stage of the selection process.
