Croatia and Malta Second Press Conferences

Croatia and Malta held their second press conferences of the week at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.

Roko from Croatia was up first. He is only 19 years old and has a great voice. He was thankful for Jacques Houdek (2017 ESC Croatia) for his help and inspiration. Roko also sang a little of The Winner Takes It All by ABBA with his backing singers.

Michela from Malta appeared to be very happy and relaxed and looked bubbly as she faced the media. She said she was happy for he X Factor experience that lead to her journey here. She also said she likes to be versatile with her music styles. She likes to sing pop, country, rock, She sang a littleof a song in Maltese that she did on X Factor and Shallow from the A Star Is Born soundtrack and also a Miley Cyrus song. She is also currently recording  more material for release after Eurovision. Of course, she still has her important  studies at school to complete.

Roko wins the Dora festival and will represent Croatia at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘The Dream’

Roko Blažević has won the revived Dora competition and will represent Croatia at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with his song The Dream.

The Dream is composed by Jacques Houdek (2017 ESC Croatia), Andrea Čubrić (formerly a vocalist with E.T.) and Charlie Mason.

The Dora national selection returns to Croatia in 2019. The finalists have been announced and here they are –

Franka Batelić to sing ‘Crazy’ for Croatia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

Franka Batelić has been chosen internally by the broadcaster, HRT, and will represent Croatia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Her song is called Crazy and it was composed by Branimir Mihaljevića and Franka.

Franka actually took part in the Croatian Dora national selection in 2009 with her song Pjesma za kraj and finished in seventh place. She has released two albums and has had several hit singles.

Franka also won Ples sa zvijezdama (Dancing With The Stars) tv show in Croatia in 2009.

Crazy will be released very shortly. In the meantime check out Franka’s most recent single and video clip, S tobom.

Severina is back with new single ‘Kuda za vikend’

Severina has returned with a brand new single and video clip. The song is called Kuda za vikend (Where for the weekend). It is a lively and upbeat song with positive vibes.  The song is composed by Miloš Roganović and Filip Miletić.

Severina represented Croatia at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with the ethnic upbeat song Moja Štikla.

SPOTLIGHT ON SA ARTISTS – HAROLD WALTBERG

Harold Waltberg started with vocal training in 2012 at the age of 17 whilst attending high school in Tzaneen, Limpopo. After high school he moved to Centurion where he attended the Open Window School of Visual Communication, studying towards a BA Degree in Graphic Design which he completed in 2015. Since then he have been working as a Marketing assistant for HANNON, a cosmetic company based in Sandton.

He has had a love for classical music from an early age since he was given his first Josh Groban album at the age of 11. This has been a great inspiration to him throughout his career and has helped to shape him as a performing artist.

When he moved to Centurion, he successfully auditioned to be accepted into CC Vocal Studios and receive further vocal training under SA Tenor Chris Coetzer. During this time he had the opportunity to attend various functions and concerts with Chris Coetzer and accompany him on his shows, learning the essentials of performing.

After his time with Chris Coetzer he joined the Centurion Performance Academy and received classical training under well-known Classical Vocal Coach, Jolanda Becker. He is presently still being trained by Jolanda Becker.

He has had the opportunity to perform at various events such as Innibos as well as a variety of other festivals. He has planned and arranged solo concerts as well, and recently launched his first album featuring songs from the likes of Josh Groban, Phil Coulter and Elvis Costello.

He has also recently launched his own professional digital platform in the form of a website (www.haroldwaltberg.co.za) which gives further information on his career as well as snippets of the songs from his album and images of himself.

Harold will be one of the duet members of HARLIND, who plans to cover CROATIA 2017, MY FRIEND. As a solo artist, he is looking at covering in Afrikaans the 2012 song of ESTONIA, KUULA by Ott Lepland.
