SECOND CHANCE 2014

Today is the last day for clubs to send their votes in Second chance 2014 to OGAE Norway. During next week we will start to reveal how certain parts of our members have voted. Gerry tabled how fans in Australia, South Africa and the United states of America have voted. The combined voting will only appear via OGAE NORWAY

VOTING VIDEO – OGAE SECOND CHANCE

We have finished the voting video for the 2014 OGAE Second chance contest. Cole van Dais and Jasmyn were the presenters and then we edited the video and now it is ready to be posted off to OGAE Norway, well in time of the 31 August deadline.

Gerry will soon start posting the results. He has categorized them in terms of voters from South Africa, United States if America and Australia and will show you how members in these three countries voted and then the overall voting of all the members.

Of course we can only present this once we get the green light from OGAE Norway. If we publish too soon, other clubs may see it and adjust their voting.

Cole will also put the voting video on so you all can see that as well, when the time is ready.

Jasmyn covers Más by Brequette on new duet album

Jasmyn from South Africa has released a new album of mainly duets with Hercules. The album is called Brief oor die see and includes a cover in the Afrikaans language by Jasmyn of the runner up in the Spanish national selection in 2014, Más (Run) by Brequette. The song was a big favourite with the Eurovision fans.

You can hear snippets from the album at the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDwmAW_s52o#t=15

Jasmyn has covered several Eurovision songs in the past. She also was a guest during the Eurovision two weeks in Düsseldorf, Germany in 2011. Jasmyn was invited to perform at the Euroclub (the club for artists, accredited journalists and invited guests). There she performed the United Kingdom 1991 entry by Samantha Janus, A Message To Your Heart.

Russia confirms for 2015

russianflag

The Russian broadcaster, Channel One, has confirmed that it will be taking part in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.  The representative will be the winner of The Voice Russia reality show, although no details have been given as to the song which will be sung.

Russia had been rumoured to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest after a Russian MP claimed that Conchita Wurst winning Eurovision was “the end of Europe”.  Russia has even revived the Soviet-era Intervision, with competing nations besides Russia including Central Asia countries and even China.  Intervision will take place this October.

Membership update

OGAE International requires from us to update the membership of our club so they have detailed figures to present to ORF when negotiating for ticket packages for 2015 in Vienna. Rest of the world will update their figures on Monday as it is important to see whether there is now some normality regarding the South African members. It has become clear that a few members in Australia/New Zealand think only they have a right to be fans of Eurovision and want to wish the SA members away.

Vienna is chosen!

Wiener_Stadthalle

Earlier today, the Austrian Broadcaster ORF and the EBU announced that Vienna has been chosen to host the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.  Vienna beat the competition from Innsbruck and Graz, and will host the contest in the Wiener Stadthalle on the 19th, 21st and 23rd May.

The Wiener Stadthalle has an overall seating capacity of around 16 000 people, depending on stage design, and should make for a fantastic show.
