LIEF VIR ALLES HIER – ANDRE SCHWARTZ
On Saturday 25 July 2020 ESC COVERS will launch the COVER2COVER competition. In category one are 14 songs by South African artists that are covers of EUROVISION songs (actual entries or selection songs or Eurovision related because of the original artist who was an entry at Eurovision or by the composers who had written a Eurovision entry). We will list all 14 in the next days, the Afrikaans cover plus the original song.
The six song is LIEF VIR ALLES HIER by ANDRE SCHWARTZ plus the original song FUR ALLE by WIND.
This is a Eurovision entry. WIND represented GERMANY in 1985 at the Eurovision song contest. Andre covered it in Afrikaans and is regarded by many Euro fans as a classic.

100 RALPH SIEGEL SONGS – SONG 44 (Traume sind fur alle da)
The 44th song in our Ralph Siegel series is TRAUME SIND FUR ALLE DA by WIND – it was the third time they appeared in Eurovision after Fur alle and Lass die sonne but where the first 2 both came second, this one did not do well at all. Maybe the Euro fans got tired of seeing them so often?

EUROVISION COVER – FUR ALLE (Dutch)
Frans Bauer covered the 1985 Eurovision entry from Germany, FUR ALLE by Wind in Dutch as IK HEB VANNACHT IN MIJN DROMEN EEN ENGEL GEZEIN.
EUROVISION COVER – LASS DIE SONNE IN DEIN HERZ (Dutch)
The 1987 Eurovision entry from Germany LASS DIE SONNE IN DEIN HERZ from Wind was covered in Dutch by Wolter Kroes a LAAT DE ZOMER IN JE HART.
EUROVISION COVER – FUR ALLE (Afrikaans)
Wind reached the second position at the 1985 Eurovision song contest with FUR ALLE. Andre Schwartz from South Africa covered it in Afrikaans and had a huge hit
100 RALPH SIEGEL SONGS – SONG 3 (Lass die sonne in dein herz)
In 1985 Wind ended 2nd in Eurovision with Fur alle and they did it again two years later with this song. Although Ralph Siegel & Bern Meinunger wrote it they entered it under other names due to the fact that there was a feeling in Germany that they write too many songs – and then it ended up winning the German selection and then they revealed it was again Ralph & Bernd. The song has been covered several times with the best covers being in Dutch.

NEW CD – DEON GROOT
A new name on the South African music scene is DEON GROOT. Sony South Africa has just released his first CD which is called GEE MY OOR. Most of the 12 songs on the CD have been written by him, but one of them is a cover of a Eurovision songs. Unfortunately it is not a cover of new song but this song has been covered years ago for the first and and has become a classic with more 12 other people also covering it. The original song is Germany’s 1985 Eurovision entry FUR ALLE by WIND which reached 2nd place at the contest. The most successful Afrikaans cover was done by ANDRE SCHWARTZ – he called it LIEF VIR ALLES HIER (In love with everything here). Now this Deon Groot covers it as well in a different style than the Andre version.
He has used several backing singers and two of them have Eurovision connection, BURGERD BOTHA who was part of Romanz and LEE SCOTT who covered at least 3 songs from 2009.
EUROVISION 60th CELEBRATION – SONG 7 of 60
The next song is a real classic in South African terms. The original song is FUR ALLE by WIND, GERMANY 1985. In Afrikaans it has been covered by various artists but the biggest hit was the version of ANDRE SCHWARTZ
