Saara Aalto takes second place in UK X Factor final

Saara Aalto finished as runner up in the UK X Factor final. Matt Terry took the top prize in Sunday’s grand final.

After the first stage of the final on Saturday,  Saara was in the lead on the public vote and she also won the public vote in the previous two weeks. But Matt Terry won over the viewers with his performances in the second part of the final on Sunday evening.

Maybe we will see Saara in the Eurovision in the future either for Finland or United Kingdom.

The OGAE Second Chance Contest 2016 kicked off on 1st of June and members of OGAE Rest of the World can still vote! We are now at the halftime – the deadline for send your vote is 30/06/2016 midnight CET.
 
To vote, you have to rate all the entries, giving them a point between 0 and 5, except the song No. 9 which represents Rest of the World (and of course, Hungary), so if you rate it, it doesn’t count…
 
We ask you to send your votes to escvotes@gmail.com until the deadline. If you vote, you’ll earn 10 points for 2017 Ticket List.

Joe & Jake gave their first rehearsals for the United Kingdom in Stockholm for their song You’re Not Alone. The guys seemed confident and gave a good performance. However, speaking at the meet and greet, Jake was taken by surprise a little with the pyrotechnics in the final run through. He said his eyebrows were almost singed.

The song has an anthemic feel with a strong production. It would be nice if the UK made it to the left side of the scoreboard in 2016.

Karen Harding has released her brand new single entitled Open My Eyes. It is another dancefloor filler with a strong production. She had a big Top 10 hit in the United Kingdom in 2015 with the song Say Something and was also guest vocalist on two other big dance singles by Arches (New Love) and Blonde (Feel Good (It’s Alright) ).

Karen was in the United Kingdom Eurovision: Your Country Needs You national selection in 2010, where she performed a version of the Kylie Minogue hit, What Do I Have To Do.

Former Winners Take to the Stage for Eurovision: You Decide as Tickets go on General Sale

Eurovision Song Contest royalty will be taking to the stage at the United Kingdom national selection show Eurovision: You Decide.The two show stopping former winners will perform live in a bid to inspire the six competing acts who will battle for the honour of representing the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

The BBC today confirms that current Eurovision champion and Eurovision 2016 co-host Måns Zelmerlöw will appear, to sing his winning song from last year’s contest “Heroes” plus former United Kingdom Eurovision Song Contest entry Katrina will also perform with the winning song from the 1997 competition “Love Shine a Light”

Katrina says: “I can’t believe it has been nearly 20 years since we won the contest back in 1997, it’s definitely time for another UK win in the competition! Eurovision is a very special event and is something that stays with you forever – it’s always an honour to perform to such passionate crowds and it is a thrill to be doing it again at the UK National Final.”

Hosted live from The O2 Forum Kentish Town by Mel Giedroyc, the 90 minute UK Eurovision extravaganza will be broadcast live on Friday 26th February on BBC Four featuring performances by six competing acts before the voting lines open and the public are invited to choose the song and act that will represent the United Kingdom at this year’s contest in Sweden.

The six competing acts will be revealed on Monday 22 February on The Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio 2.

Next up we have GINA G and her song OOH AAH … JUST A LITTLE BIT, the entry for the United Kingdom in 1996.

I was in Oslo that year and for me there were so much better entries that I am very surprised this song became such a classic among the fans. originally I was surprised to find this among our top 12 songs but since Gina is Australian and the majority of people voting are Australian, maybe this is not a surprise.

For the next 5/6 days, we will look a little closer at the 12 songs from which R O W member’s top song will come.

We start off withMAKING YOUR MIND UP by Bucks Fizz, who won the 1981 Eurovision song contest for the United Kingdom.

It is a good song to start off with as R O W members are asked to MAKE THEIR MINDS UP and vote until 10 January 2016 for their top Eurovision song.
