Federica Falzon has been starring in a unique opera production called ‘Aħna Refuġjati’ (We are refugees). It is a modern opera and was staged in Valletta, Malta.
The opera is about refugees having to leave Syria due to the civil war and facing the reality of racism and separation from families, etc.
It has been a big challenge for Federica and the cast and I am sure she gave a magnificent and dramatic performance.
Federica represented Malta at the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Diamonds.
Check out Federica’s music videos of Dancing My Own and her Junior Eurovision song, Diamonds, below.

Who will succeed Gianluca Cilia and represent Malta in Minsk, Belarus in November? In the meantime check out Gianluca’s 2017 Junior Eurovision song Dawra Tond.
The brand new season of the X Factor launched yesterday in the United Kingdom. Eagle eyed viewers may have spotted Gaia Cauchi briefly in one of the camera shots.
I wonder what we can expect. Would Gaia have auditioned? If so, how would she do? Will she impress the judges including newcomers Robbie Williams, Ayda Field (Robbie’s wife), Louis Tomlinson (from One Direction) and of course Simon Cowell?
It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks.
We at ESC Covers will certainly be monitoring the X Factor tv show to see if Gaia will be featured and, hopefully, impress the judges.
Gaia won the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Malta in 2013 with The Start. Let us hope whatever she is doing now it is The Start of an incredible journey for her.
Check out the clip below where you can see Gaia very briefly.
Nicole Hammett performed at a special summer event in Sliema, Malta recently and she expressed her versatility as a singer by performing a variety of songs and styles.
Nicole is comfortable singing pop or rock or opera/soprano/classical music.
The songs that Nicole performed in this unique event by the sea were No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) by Donna Summer & Barbra Streisand, Ti Sento by Matia Bazar, a medley of the classical masterpiece O Fortuna with Believe by Cher, Flower Of The South (the English version of the 2007 Slovenian Eurovision song Cvet z Juga) by Alenka Gotar and The Show Must Go On by Queen.
Nicole Hammett has just had another big success in the X Malta competition where she has won a tough battle with singers, solo dancers and group dancers to take the prize in her category. But not only that she won the overall competition and took home two very impressive trophies.
Nicole is having a great year, where she has made a very impressive cover and video clip of La Forza by Elina Nechayeva (2018 ESC Estonia) and also performed with the Malta Police Band at a special concert recently.
The X Malta is a talent show organised by Ivan Gaffiero.
Nicole Hammett this year recorded an outstanding version of La Forza by Elina Nechayeva (2018 ESC Estonia). She even recorded a beautiful and memorable video clip for the song.
Nicole recently performed La Forza with The Malta Police Band at a special concert in Valletta, Malta during Malta Police Week. Her superb and powerful operatic / pop vocals sounded beautiful with the live music of the police band.
Check out the charming clip of Nicole’s various performances of La Forza merged in to one video with The Malta Police Band below. Thank you to Maestro Superintendent Anthony Cassar.
Gaia Cauchi gave a great performance at the WICKED Teen festival in Malta this week. She entertained the mainly teen audience with four songs. Gaia sang Friends (Marshmello & Anne-Marie), New Rules (Dua Lipa), Alarm (AnneMarie) and No Tears Left To Cry (Ariana Grande).
Gaia has certainly come a long way since winning the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with The Start. She certainly has an amazing voice and can sing a huge variety of songs and styles.
I have a feeling we may see Gaia on the adult Eurovision stage in the future.
Take a listen to Lately by Shedona feat. Gaia Cauchi & Kevin Paul Calleja (Gaia’s latest release) below.
Nicole Hammett gave a charming and unique performance of the song Flower Of The South at the Maratona Volleyball 2018 event in Malta. She performed with the Malta Police Band and Nicole only had two days to learn the song.
Flower Of The South was the 2007 Slovenia Eurovision entry by Alenka Gotar. The song was perfect for Nicole’s distinctive and special operatic voice. She did an amazing job to adapt her vocals to the pop/opera song with the brass band orchestra of the Malta Police Band. Nicole is particularly grateful for the help given by Maestro Superintendent Anthony Cassar for giving her this opportunity.
Nicole is an emerging big talent from Malta and can adapt her voice easily from opera to pop and rock. She recorded a beautiful version of the 2018 Estonian Eurovision entry La Forza by Elina Nechayeva and filmed a special video clip to accompany the song. Elena herself gave great praise to Nicole’s interpretation and vocal performance and of course the excellent and delightful music video.
Nicole would also like to say thank you to her vocal coaches Danica Muscat, Joshua Alamu and Joseph Chircop, Harmonic Ensemble Mosta and also Ritienne Azzopardi, Debbie from Twenty Two for her dress, and Clint Galea. Also, to Nigel Mifsud for the video editing.
You can see Nicole’s performance with the Malta Police Band of Flower Of The South below.
Gaia & Kevin Paul from the music video of ‘Lately’
A brand new and original song by DJ Shedona featuring Gaia & Kevin Paul entitled Lately has just been released. A powerful and emotional video clip accompanies the polished and classy radio friendly song. It has a good summer vibe and is composed by Cyprian Cassar and Shaun Farrugia. The production is courtesy of Somnio Recording Studios.
Gaia Cauchi is again showing even more maturity with her music and vocals. She, of course, won the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Malta with the amazing The Start.
Kevin Paul Calleja is a young and talented musician and vocalist who I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of in the future.
DJ Shedona is a respected top deejay and this is a great example of his work and a fine collaboration.
