ESC COVERS started to look at 1 or 2 highlights from every Eurovision song contest from 1970 to 2023. This may be an actual entry, a cover from that year or just a specific artist.

Today it is 1977. The United Kingdom hosted in London at the Wembley conference center. Sweden returned after saying home the previous year.

Germany sent SILVER CONVENTION with TELEGRAM. This female group was huge in the disco genre but the song is not at all the style of what ESC Covers like.

1977 is quite interesting in that not a single of the 18 entries have been covered in South Africa.

1977 provided some good songs from Ireland, Greece and the Netherlands, but our favourite is SWISS LADY by PEPE LIENHARD BAND with a song composed by Peter Reber from Peter Sue & Marc.

The French winner L’OISEAU ET L’ENFANT by Marie Myriam is quite nice.
