ESC NORGE DISCUSSED THE 37 SONGS FROM EUROVISION 2025 – 19th PLACE

ESC Covers, like in previous years, google translated ESC Norge discussion on the Eurovision song contest positions, from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog post and represents only the writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

That Europe’s leading exporter of pop music, Britain, should struggle so much to charm the European audience at the ESC is actually nothing short of a miracle. The fact that last year’s gay flirtation could be a bit too much of a good thing last year is perhaps understandable, but I find it quite incomprehensible that the three girls in Remember Monday’s sugary effort on stage should end up with no points from the public.

After the song “What The Hell Just Happened” was in 10th place after the juries had had their say and the jury in Italy thought this was the best song of the evening, the 0-point score from the audience caused them to fall to 19th place, which is a position in the landscape where this country has a tradition of ending up.

In fact, before 2003, 16th place was the worst position they had had, after that time it is rare for them to manage a position better than 16th place and their songs have actually not been that bad in my opinion.

What we saw on stage was a pretty sweet performance, vocally it was acceptable and I think the girls have the charm inside so there shouldn’t be much to put your finger on, you would think.

I think the biggest sticking point for those who voted was the song, it was an unlikely mix of several songs, lots of rhythm changes and then it becomes a bit difficult to find something about the song that is catchy and sticks in the listener’s head.

It is also possible that those who vote simply have higher expectations of this country than they are able to fulfill, they send mostly unknown artists and the well-known artists they sent a few years ago had a career that can only be called declining or even worse in the last verse, believe if this country can send one of its real guns soon who also has the capacity to perform a song live.
