ESC NORGE DISCUSSED THE 37 SONGS FROM EUROVISION 2025 – 11th PLACE

ESC Covers, like in previous years, google translated ESC Norge discussion on the Eurovision song contest positions, from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog post and only represents the writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

If I were forced to spend money on guessing which Nordic country would win ESC first in the future, I actually think I would bet my money on our Finnish neighbors, they have something going on, they just have to find the right combination that scores enough points from both the jury and the public and then greats like Loreen have to stay far away.

This year I actually had a feeling for a while that Finnish Erika Vikman would take the win and I was a bit right, there was a one-digit number in the ranking she got, the only mistake was that there were 2 one-digit numbers and not 1 and then you come in 11th place given.

“Ich Komme” was the song’s name and tough Finnish ladies rarely hide what they think and are honest about such things, so anyone who thought the song was a bit sexual was absolutely right.

Both from the jury and the public, she was paid half-heartedly, and then you rarely get into the top 10, and she needed 18 points to get there, and with 21 points down to 12th place, it was a clear placement for her.

In terms of performance, this is of course a bit on the edge, but I still feel that she never steps over the edge, she is just as tough and uncompromising as you should be in a song like that and you don’t dress like a nun when you sing a song like that, so in that sense everything is right.

Throw in cool vocals and an empathy for the TV screen with lots of charm and Finnish sisu and there’s basically little to complain about, but it might have been a minus for some that she sang in Finnish and that she might have been a little too sexy in her appearance in some people’s eyes.

Otherwise, I highly doubt that fondue will ever be served as a prop in a green room interview in the future, but that particular sequence stands out as a small highlight from the entire ESC week. The EBU’s desire for a family-friendly show was given a strong boost then, but could it really expect any different behavior from that lady.

Our Finnish friends have in recent years had a national final that is talked about, you never know what kind of music you can expect and that’s how I and many other fans love it and I strongly believe that we won’t be disappointed next year, so all we have to do is choose the right winner and the ESC trophy will soon be within reach.
