ESC NORGE DISCUSSED THE 37 ENTRIES FROM THE 2025 EUROVISION – 27th PLACE

ESC Covers, like in previous years, google translated ESC Norge discussion on the Eurovision song contest positions, from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog post and only represents the writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

11th place in the semi-final is actually a pretty bad position and our Cypriot friend Theo Evan had every reason to be angry, only 2 points separated him from the final, well I’ll be completely correct, if he had gotten 2 more points the final would still have been a failure as he would have gotten points from a maximum of 7 countries while San Marino who grabbed the last final spot got points from a total of 14 countries.

No, if he was mad at someone, maybe it should have been those who drew which semi-final the individual countries would be in. If they had just drawn Greece and Cyprus in the same semi-final, the final spot would have been secured.

As in the Irish entry, Norwegians were very involved here, two of those who wrote last year’s winning song were among them, but we have often seen that previous success has little value in later years, but I think that wasn’t the only thing that took away the song “Shh” from the final place.

There is little doubt that a lot of creative energy and probably a lot of money have been used to make the performance look tough, and it can be said that Theo and the guys and the scaffolding he brought on stage managed that quite well.

Vocally, it was also within, but all in all, what we saw on TV was quite dark, gloomy and not least almost completely uncharming with the exception of the last seconds of the song and what all this climbing on scaffolding has to do with asking someone to be quiet, I will probably forever wonder and will probably never get an answer to.

Creative ideas are always welcome in our beloved competition, but so are some who say shh to some of the ideas and say enough is enough and tone things down a bit. In recent years, entries that “exaggerate” have very often been paid poorly in the telephone voting.

Let’s hope our Cypriot friends have learned and will come in a slightly toned down version next year in terms of performance.
