Björgvin Halldórsson, April 16, 1951 – April 9, 2025, was an Icelandic pop singer from Hafnarfjörður. He represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 with the song Núna, sung in Icelandic. He also often participated in the Icelandic national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, Söngvakeppnin, in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990 & 1992.
He was the father of Svala, an Icelandic singer who was Iceland’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
I have been especially shocked by his death as I met him in 1995 when he participated for Iceland and I was in Dublin with my first press accreditation and he was the first Icelandic person I have ever met.
The English version of his Eurovision entry is IF IT’S GONNA END IN HEARTACHE and this has really ended for me in heartache.
