COUNTDOWN OF EUROVISION 2024 RESULTS – POSITION 24

ESC Covers start the Eurovision 2024 countdown from position 37 to the top place. We are using the review of Morten Thomassen from Norway. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog entry and represents only writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

Since Gåte came in last place, many people probably thought that we should possibly send KEiiNO instead, but when you see how the song that was most similar to their song made it in the final, namely Austrian Kaleen and her song “We Will Rave”, with only a catch of 24 points, it was 24th place and not really much to brag about, and then one might wonder if a similar song from Norway would have made it particularly much better.

A full 10 of the 24 points they got came from Israel and if those points had failed, Norway would have saved themselves from last place, but now anyway this is history and with points from only 5 countries you never manage to do well in the ESC anyway.

The danceable music of the 90s had a bit of a rebirth in this year’s competition and then it was perhaps not so strange that someone was left a little behind in the scoring queue and that it should happen to an artist who already had some ESC experience, although only now that main artist.

In this very energetic song we are served, not bothersome impressive vocals and basically a very energy less show, should have thought then had partied for hours and only performed in the early morning sometime after the party, I almost let myself be annoyed by what happens on stage is so tame.

I don’t think I was completely alone in feeling this way, I think that Marie-Sophie Kreissl, as she is called, may have taken a little water over her head when she chose to participate with this song, a song that was otherwise not terribly original, such a song must anyway have an artist with more energy both in the voice and in the body and we didn’t see that here and it was punished.

This country has internal selection and then we never quite know what we will get from that edge, but a song more towards the ballad edge performed by someone with a big voice might be a hint of what has worked for them before.
