SAN MARINO 2026 ENTRY ENDED IN POSITION 33

Like previous years, ESC COVERS will again share a blog post from Morten Thomassen of OGAE NORWAY with his views on the positions reached by all 35 2026 entries. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

Then we’re going to a country that I actually thought would make it to the finals, but I quickly realized that it was my heart that wanted it the most, my head should have realized that it was unlikely to happen.

And a second-to-last place in her semi-final clearly shows that our friend SENHIT, with some kind of support from Boy George himself, was nowhere near living up to the name of the song “Superstar.”

I feel like the song has some kind of potential and there really aren’t that many mistakes made on stage, but you can’t really get away with a kind of Danish-boat-entertainment atmosphere of perfectly decent artists and not an ESC entry that’s supposed to impress those watching and voting for something like that.

It almost seems as if this small state spends far too much money on the show itself and far too little money on bringing in a good song and an artist who has something to offer. San Marino has become the recycling nation in ESC and from an environmental perspective, recycling is fine, but from an ESC perspective, it’s probably some recycling we could have avoided.

But, they should really try and give us contributions that give us a lot of glitz and glamour and something to talk about, maybe for the wrong reasons, but so what?

In terms of points, the total score of 41 points received was evenly distributed between the jury and telephone voting, and had it not been for the generosity of Italy and Israel, who gave them half of the points they received, the result would have been the same, but the score would have been narrower.

You never know what this country will come up with, they have the most comprehensive selection process, so maybe choose quality over quantity next year?
