Jack White, pseudonym of Horst Nussbaum, (Cologne, September 2, 1940 – Berlin, October 2025) was a German footballer, composer and music producer.
Horst Nussbaum began his playing career at SC Viktoria Köln, after which he moved to FK Pirmasens. In 1965, he moved to PSV. After the 1965/66 season, he ended his football career and focused on a career as a DJ and singer, adopting the stage name Jack White.
Horst Nussbaum had a long and very successful career in music under the name Jack White. He developed into a music producer and produced, among many other things, the number one hit “When the rain begins to fall” by Pia Zadora and Jermaine Jackson in 1984. He also produced albums for Paul Anka, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tony Christie, and David Hasselhoff (including his biggest hit, “Looking for Freedom”). He sold over 200 million records with his Jack White Productions.
He is best known to Eurovision fans as the composer of the song “Chanson Pour Ceux Qui S’Aiment”, with which Jürgen Marcus represented Luxembourg at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest.
