HIGHLIGHTS OF COUNTRIES NO LONGER PARTICIPATING – HUNGARY 2012

In this series we look at countries which aren’t participating in the Eurovision Song Contest anymore.

Hungary participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This was the country’s 11th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. MTV was responsible for the Hungarian entry for the 2012 edition and organized a national final to select its candidate. Twenty artists qualified for the semifinals. Four artists from each semifinal advanced to the final. In the final, the public sent the four best songs to the superfinal, after which the professional jury decided who would represent Hungary in Baku.
Compact Disco ultimately emerged victorious. They were favored by two of the four jury members for the final. Compact Disco consisted of Lotfi Behnam, Gábor Pál, Attila Sándor and Csaba Walkó and tiogether they wrote their song Sound Of Our Hearts.
In Baku, Hungary competed in the first semifinal on Tuesday, May 22nd, where they finished in tenth place. In the final, Hungary finished 24th.
