ESC NORGE DISCUSSED THE 37 SONGS FROM EUROVISION 2025 – 12th PLACE

ESC Covers, like in previous years, google translated ESC Norge discussion on the Eurovision song contest positions, from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog post and only represents the writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

Last year’s ESC was a very turbulent affair for our Dutch friends, as they were disqualified after easily advancing from their semi-final and what actually happened to get them kicked out of the competition seems like it will never be revealed.

With that in mind, it was no wonder that it took a while for Dutch TV to choose to be part of it this year, but luckily they didn’t take too long to choose the artist Claude who, as usual, I was about to say, helped create his own song called “C’est La Vie”

That’s how life is, I guess, and with a background as a refugee from Congo and the fact that he didn’t get to go to school until he arrived in his new homeland at the age of 9, it’s possible that it’s an expression he and those around him have used from time to time.

Strangely enough, in my opinion, Claude received over 3 times as many points from the jury as from the public, and he thus became one of the songs that received surprisingly little payment from the public for their efforts on stage, incomprehensible as this was a song that should have appealed to many.

The performance itself is perhaps a bit too artistic in a way that captivates jury members and perhaps not so much “ordinary” people, and that may be the reason for the rather poor point payment from them.

Although it didn’t disappoint in the vocal area, much of the performance comes across as a bit messy in my opinion and it lacks a story I can relate to and I think he has a little too little contact with the camera, but fortunately towards the end he “meets” the younger version of himself and the performance ends with him having to cry a little bit, actually, it was a beautiful moment.

As one of the original countries in ESC, it’s nice to see that they’re back next year, they’re mostly sticking to the usual pop path in their entries and it would probably be a big surprise if something different happens next year, although it would have been fun with something really weird from this country.
