ESC NORGE DISCUSSED ALL 37 EUROVISION ENTRIES OF THE 2025 CONTEST – 36TH PLACE

ESC Covers, like in previous years, google translated ESC Norge discussion on the Eurovision song contest positions, from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog post and only represents the writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

After a few years of hiatus, our Montenegrin friends returned, although the band that actually won the national final had to be disqualified as the song had been performed a little too long ago, so it was Nina Zizic who got to go to Basel with the song “Dobrodosli”.

Welcome means the title if I can trust Google translate and of course we welcome back countries that haven’t participated in a while, but since this was their 13th participation, it’s probably a sign of bad luck that they only got 12 points, points they only got from neighboring Serbia, so Nina at least had the best average score of all those who participated this year.

What audiences in all countries other than Serbia didn’t quite like was a big ballad, performed quite dramatically, with impeccable vocals, but probably to most people’s ears a bit too boring, and I feel like most people didn’t quite get what the song was really about.

One can only wonder who came up with the idea for the duvet dress, it probably took a lot of the attention away from the song too, and many such distracting elements usually work against a song.

And then it must be pointed out that the fact that the audience sound, as the EBU itself claims, is not “fixed” is completely missing from many of the songs when you look at them in retrospect, and then the songs become flatter and completely lack the nerve that comes when the audience reacts to a song. It’s okay that you might want to remove “negative” sound, but those watching on TV are fooled into thinking that the atmosphere in the hall is different than it really is.

This year, Montenegro celebrates the 10th anniversary of their last final place, let’s hope they return to their best year with a great song that takes them to the final, they actually deserve it.
