Intervision ’25 – Wang Xi from China chats with ESC Covers

Yesterday, Eliana Goncharova from ESC Covers attended Wang Xi, the Chinese representative for Intervision 2025’s press conference. Wang answered an number of her questions which you can read below, translated into the English language.

The interview is also available to watch on the ESC Covers Official YouTube channel short, where it is spoken in Chinese and was translated into Russian for the press centre audience.

Eliana: You will be singing in Chinese language, and many of the audience don’t know Chinese. Could you tell us what your song is about?

Wang Xi: My song is about how the weather changes outside the window—it’s sometimes rain, sometimes sunshine. Our life goes on. Don’t rush, enjoy what you have right now. My song not only features Chinese elements, but this version also touches on the theme of nature. For example, there is a small river. I created this version specifically for Intervision. I hope the audience will listen and understand Chinese music. China has many different ethnic groups, each with its own culture and music. I’m happy to be in Moscow, I’m glad to represent Chinese music, and I’m enjoying every day here.

Eliana: How do you feel in Russia?

Wang Xi: Both during rehearsals and on excursions around Moscow, I receive warmth and support from my Russian friends. I thought I knew Russia well, but all my knowledge came from books. In China, I’m surrounded by fans, but here I’m surrounded by art and creativity. I hope that tomorrow I’ll be able to perform well. I hope my voice and my creativity will be appreciated by the people in Russia.

Wang Xi will be the third country’s performer to take to the stage, with his song “Zài lùshàng“.
