VOTING SHOCK/SURPRISE – ESTONIA
The last time they did was in 2015. Elina Born & Stig Rästa sang “Goodbye to Yesterday” and they finished 7th.
ROMANIA 2017 – YODEL IT – AFRIKAANS cover
Marli le Grange, a South African singer phoned Eurovision South Africa to ask if she can cover the 2017 Romanian Eurovision entry YODEL IT in Afrikaans. She has forwarded the Afrikaans lyrics and it has been forwarded to the original composers. This could be a surprise hit in South Africa in Afrikaans.
MOLDOVA 2017 – HEY MAMMA
Chris Hockman brought something to our attention – not a SINGLE OGAE fan club awarded any points to HEY MAMMA by SUNSTROKE PROJECT, the 2017 entry from Moldova. We did not expect a third place but knew it will do well due to the way the three guys handled the press and fans – showing true dedication and professionalism. Their HEY MAMMA t-shirts also took our breath away.

TOP THREE EURO FRIENDS
These Eurofriends never imagined that their countries reached their best result ever in Ukraine! Congrats to them from the Eurovision Friends!
Lisbon
is the bellhop of his own hotel. He’s ready to help fellow Eurofriends to solve their problems and find a handy and happy solution to any situation they’re facing and as he likes to say to them: “every help counts!”. From giving a warm welcome to all Eurostars to helping each of his friends to keep their countries participating each year, this friend has his hands busy helping and keeping things town as happy as he can enjoy with a handy attitude!
Sofia
is cheerful so much that she loves cheering everyfriend when they feel down and she’s known by saying everything in rhyme so her friends can do their best in every thing they do. She joined every fanclub of all talented people in the Song Contest and that’s the reason she admires everyfriend with talent and all her fellow Eurofriends alike, something she’s proud like a peacock about that!
Chisinau
is everyfriend in Eurovision Land’s best friend, she makes friendships as easy as eating a piece of cake or in her case… planting flowers on Euro Park counts too! Her friendly ways are contagious for everyfriend, even for her fellow Lil Eurofriend pals say that she knows them by their hopes, dreams and even by the things they like.

MONTENEGRO WINS BARBARA DEX AWARD 2017
We got this press release
Slavko Kalezić from Montenegro is this year’s winner of the Barbara Dex Award. The singer got the most votes. The prize is awarded each year to the worst dressed artist at the Eurovision Song Contest. Triana Park from Latvia and Martina Bárta from Czech Republic came in second and third place. The Belgian website songfestival.be hands out the award this year and received thousands of votes.
Slavko didn’t win the 62th Eurovision Song Contest with his song Space, but he still gets to take home a prize. The singer gets an award for his rather remarkable outfit, one we will probably not be seeing on the red carpet anytime soon … The men’s high-knot pony tail helped to get a lot of votes.
Latvia and Czech Republic came in second and third place. According to the voters, these artists were dressed the worst on stage during the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
The top 3:
- Montenegro – Slavko Kalezić
- Latvia – Triana Park
- Czech Republic – Martina Bárta
Votes from all over Europe
The Barbara Dex Award is a very popular prize among the Eurovision fans. The Belgian website Songfestival.be, who hands out the award since this year, received thousands of votes from all over Europe, and Australia.
The Barbara Dex Award is named after the Belgian Eurovision contestant in 1993. She wore a dress she designed herself, a creation that caught the eye of a lot of critics. Sadly not because it was so beautiful …
