SPOTLIGHT ON EUROVISION COMPOSERS – LASSE HOLM & GERT LENGSTRAND

The second in our series of songs by EUROVISION composers – songs that were not their Eurovision entries.

Today it is HENRIK ABERG who is a Swedish singer (probably unknown outside of Sweden) and his song JENNY OCH JAG.

The song has two composers and both are Euro composers:
LASSE HOLM – he is most known as one of the composers of the 1983 Eurovision song of Sweden – Framling of Carola Haggkvist.
GERT LENGSTRAND – he is most know as one of the composers of the 1999 Eurovision song of Sweden and eventual winner that year – Take me to your heaven of Charlotte Nillson.

SPOTLIGHT ON EUROVISION COMPOSERS – PIERRE KARTNER

We start today with a new daily series with will probably stretch over 100 days to look at various EUROVISION composers but at OTHER songs they have composed. Often a Euro composer has just made it with one song in Eurovision but has had many others released and some even were bigger hits.

The first one is PIERRE KARTNER of THE NETHERLANDS. ESCCovers likes the song he wrote for SIENEKE called IK BEN VERLIEFD (SHA LA LIE). It was the entry of the Netherlands in 2010.

The song we look at is ALLEEN DROMEN DOEN WE APART (The only thing we do apart is dreaming) sung by the Dutch duo of Frank & Mirella. The single came out in 1994.

NEW EUROVISION COVERS by DIRK LAZENBY

The day started off great when we received the latest two Eurovision covers. A singer from Cape Town, DIRK LAZENBY has recorded a full CD and on it will be two Eurovision covers. The CD is currently at the printers and once it becomes available, we will inform you about the details.

The two euro covers are
Lithuania 2012 Love is blind of Donny Montell which will be called JY’S DIE EEN VIR MY (you are the one for me)

Belarus 2012 We are the heroes of Litesound which will be called EK WIL JOU HELP WEES (I want to be your hero).

Andy Mikheev, the chief editor of ESCKaz website heard the two covers and said it is of the BEST ever to come out of South Africa.

Roy van der Merwe, the president of Eurovision South Africa loves both songs as well. but most know he just love covers and is not as objective when it comes to real world quality, which according to Andy these two covers are.

Dirk is still fairly unknown but this CD, if the other songs are of the same standard, is destined for big things.

A special thanks to Riaan Steyn who is helping Dirk to realize his dream with this CD.
