37TH PLACE IN THE 2022 EUROVISION SONG CONTEST – MONTENEGRO

Morten Thomassen from Norway continues his review of the 40 songs from the 2022 Eurovision and discussed position 37th. ESC Covers google translated it into English from Norwegian.

So to one of this year’s perhaps most gloomy songs, it was after all about the artist’s mother dying as a result of the corona virus.

Dramatic so it holds, but unfortunately for Vladana’s part not many sympathy points were awarded to her.

As previously mentioned, the proportion of dramatic songs was high enough this year, so here it was really important to stand out and to stand out you can make many choices, but am probably afraid that those who were made for the song “Breathe” did not have much breathe in.

A bit strained vocals at times and the round thing she had on her back on an otherwise nice dress was probably incomprehensible to anyone but the person who designed this dress.

Add a performance I felt lacked empathy and there is not much left to give plus points to.

All this failed to make an initially not too exciting song so interesting that those who voted would bite on that hook.

When you also remove the votes from the two neighboring countries Serbia and Northern Macedonia, the final sum of 33 points actually goes down to one lousy point that the jury in Spain thought this song deserved.

Montenegro was also one of the countries where the jury was accused of cheating, but as is well known even with cheating, the result had not changed in terms of who made it to the final, although Montenegro fell from 12th to 17th place then.

Then we’ll see if the next few years are still offended because they were discovered or still participating in our dear competition, but if I believe Wikipedia they should have said they are participating.

Since this country joined Eurovision as “only” Montenegro in 2007, they have only qualified for the final twice and we have to go all the way back to 2015 when this last happened.

In other words, there needs to be a lot of sharpening here, I’m pretty sure they have what it takes, it’s more that they may not be able to get those artists with that capacity to participate for their country, who knows?
