VOTING SHOCK/SURPRISE – PORTUGAL
BARBARA DEX AWARD – 2017
Who was the worst dressed artist at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017? Vote now for the Barbara Dex Award!
The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 has come to an end. We’ve seen a lot of remarkable outfits. But which dress, costume or pantsuit was the absolute worst? You can now start voting for the Barbara Dex Award, a prize for the worst dressed Eurovision artist, by the Belgian website Songfestival.be.
Last year Nina Kraljić from Croatia won the price for her rather remarkable dress. The time has come to select her successor. You can start voting from now until Sunday May 21, 12 AM CET.
A new home
The award is handed out by the Belgian website Songfestival.be, who took over from the Dutch founders Rob and Edwin (House of Eurovision). The voting procedure got a make-over. For all 42 contestants there is a photo included of their outfit.
‘We are extremely proud and excited to organize this award. We hope to get a lot of votes, more than ever before. And of course we hope Barbara Dex herself will vote too’, says Jasper Van Biesen, one of the founders of Songfestival.be.
The Barbara Dex Award is named after the Belgian Eurovision contestant in 1993. She wore a dress she designed herself, a creation that caught the eye of a lot of critics. Sadly not because it was so beautiful…

VOTING SHOCK/SURPRISE – HUNGARY
OGAE FAN STAND – KYIV, UKRAINE
OGAE FAN STAND – KYIV, UKRAINE
We can now publish the second photo of a Hungarian fan who worked at the OGAE fan stand in Kyiv. It is REGO KOVACS and Kyiv was his first Eurovision and he seemed to have enjoyed it very much Rego works for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Hungary and he chose the CD of the Czech republic. Behind Rego you can see some of the pigeonholes of the press.
OGAE FAN STAND – KYIV, UKRAINE
In Kyiv OGAE had a fan stand where fans helped people to vote which ten countries would make it to the final from semi final 1 and semi final 2 and then once all finalists were known, who will win the Eurovision song contest. It was set up by Marcus Davey from OGAE Rest of the world and also a board member of OGAE International. People with either F or P accreditation worked there in shifts.
ESCCovers was especially pleased to find 3 Hungarian fans during a shift and asked them about their favourite entries from 2017 and to see if we have a promo CD of that country for them, One of the three got this favourite, the other 2 probably their 4th or 5th favourite. Over the next days we will feature them, starting with Tibor Demeter who has been to Eurovisions before.
