ESC Covers did not really write about all the speculation of 9 cities/towns in the Netherlands that expressed interest to host the 2020 Eurovision song contest. There are enough websites and blogs reporting on that and it is virtually impossible to come up with any new news on such matters.
However, the fact that Amsterdam announced today that it will not host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, is quite sad to us since it is the capitol and ESC Covers like the contests to be in the capitol with easier access to the main airport as flying into Europe from South Africa is quite a challenge otherwise.
It seems the capital of the Netherlands cannot submit a suitable venue for the event and so mayor Femke Halsema announced the city’s official withdrawal this afternoon.
