FREDDY QUINN – 90 YEARS OLD

FREDDY QUINN, who is an Austrian, took part for Germany in the first ever Eurovision song contest in 1956.

Freddy’s real name is FRANZ EUGEN HELMUT MANFRED NIDL and he celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday 27 September.

SEEMANN, DEINE HEIMAT IST DAS MEER is probably his most known song.

Freddy came to South Africa in 1963 and besides he himself covering some of them in AFRIKAANS, several other songs by him were others by other South African artists.
