GEORGIA WILL HOST THE 2017 JUNIOR EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Georgian Public Broadcaster, GPB, have today confirmed that Georgia will host the 15th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in November 2017. It is the first time that Georgia will host a Eurovision event.

11 year old Mariam Mamadashvili triumphed in November last year in Valletta, with her pitch perfect performance of Mzeo topping the table with 239 points. The EBU and GPB are pleased to reveal that as last year’s winners GPB were given first option to host the 2017 competition, and they have agreed.

Jon Ola Sand, the EBU’s Head of Live Events said; “The EBU are delighted to announce that GPB will be the host broadcaster of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017. As Georgia has won the JESC the most times we are pleased that we can finally bring Europe’s favourite youth show to a new country that has shown such dedication to the Contest. Last year’s competition showed that JESC is an invaluable platform for public service broadcasters to support their young talent, and we have full confidence that GPB will host another great show this November”.

Eurovision Georgia has won the Contest, which began in 2003, a record three times but this is the first time that the event will be held in the country. Further details concerning dates, venue, tickets and accreditation for the 2017 edition of the competition will be announced in the coming months.

Liza Kenia has just released the song You Are The One from the Georgian movie, Herokratia. Liza gives an amazing and very soulful performance with the musical production by Dato Porchkhidze and filming by Goga Khaindrava.

Liza has the potential and talent to be a really big artist. Her performance in this clip from the movie reminds me of a Beyoncé or Rihanna. It is that good.

Liza was a part of the group Princesses, who represented Georgia at the 2009 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song Lurji prinveli.

Gvantsa Saneblidze was a member of the popular group Candy, who won the 2011 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Georgia, with Candy Music. They also had a follow up hit entitled Summer Day. The girl group were all part of the Bzikebi Studio success that has heralded three Junior Eurovision wins so far mastered by Giga Kukhiadnidze.

The members of Candy are still combining their studies with singing. Gvantsa likes to perform jazz and classic and retro style songs with her clear and soulful vocals. Take a look below at her performing Brother, Can You Spare A Dime? that has been recorded by many artists such as Bing Crosby and Rudy Vallee.

I am sure we will see a lot more of Gvantsa in the future and, who knows, maybe on the Eurovision stage again too.

Giga Papaskiri feat. Elené Mikiashvili have released a festive song for the New Year and Christmas celebrations. It is a dance/trance song entitled Merry Christmas. It is sure to make you feel good at the parties and clubs coming up over the coming days.

Elené Mikiashvili will be participating in the forthcoming Georgian national selection with the song Fighter (composers, lyricists are Ylva & Linda Persson and also composer, producer is Will Taylor). Fighter is now available to download at digital stores such as iTunes, Amazon and Google Play and also to stream at Spotify.

Giga Papaskiri is a much respected DJ in Georgia and has produced many top dance tracks.

Sabina Chantouria releases new song and video…and will compete in national selection in Georgia

Sabina Chantouria will be participating in the Georgian Eurovision selection with her song Stranger. Sweden Songs are the publishers for the song and also for her latest release entitled Cry For Me.

Sabina is a Georgian/Swedish singer and songwriter. Cry For Me is produced by Kevin Jarvis from the USA, who has worked with artists such as Iggy Pop, Elvis Costello and Ben Vaughn.

Elené Mikiashvili is not only a promising and talented singer from Georgia but she is also pretty impressive as a model. She has just done a photoshoot and released a short video using the recent release she recorded, With Me, with top DJ Giga Papaskiri.

Elené had success in the 2015 The Voice of Georgia contest where she was mentored by Anri Jokhadze (2012 ESC Georgia). She is very versatile as a singer and is comfortable singing pop or dance or rock style music.

Maybe we will see Elené participate in future Georgian Eurovision selections. She has the talent and capability to go far.

Mariam Mamadashvili and The Virus perform at special concert in Georgia

The winner of the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Georgia, Mariam Mamadashvili  and the Georgian participants from 2015 Junior Eurovision, The Virus, performed at a special concert held in Kutaisi.

Mariam performed her winning song, Mzeo, and The Virus sang two songs, Gabede, their 2015 Junior Eurovision hit,  and Weekend.

Both Mariam and The Virus are part of the acclaimed Bzikebi Studio in led by Giga Kukhianidze (composer and producer). The Virus are Tako, Elee, Lizi and Data. Watch out for the brand new single and video by them coming soon.

Mariam Mamadashvili wins the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Georgia

Georgia have won the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Mariam Mamadashvili with the song Mzeo.

Armenia finished in second place and Italy were third.

It is the third success for Georgia at Junior Eurovision and also for the composer Giga Kukhianidze and the Bzikebi Studio team.

The promising and talented Elené Mikiashvili has teamed up once again with top DJ Giga Papaskiri on a brand dance track entitled With Me. It has a smooth hypnotic trance feel and it has a strong production. The instrumental music is by Giga, and Elené wrote the words and melody.

With Me follows up the awesome dance cover of the Georgian classic Artificial Love. The musical combination of Giga and Elené really works and is very promising and they should set the dance floors of Tbilisi and the rest of Georgia and beyond grooving.

Elené had success in the 2015 The Voice of Georgia competition, where she achieved much acclaim. She was on the team of Anri Jokhadze (2012 ESC Georgia).

Elené has a great chance to one day represent Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest. Maybe we will see her with Giga there.
