Norbert from MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC facebook reported that NEIL SEDAKA passed away at the age of 86 yesterday.
Neil Sedaka (March 13, 1939 – February 27, 2026) was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. Beginning his music career in 1957, he sold millions of records worldwide and wrote or co-wrote over 500 songs for himself and other artists.
He wrote numerous songs for other artists, including Gene Pitney, Connie Francis, Tony Christie, and ABBA. In 1973, ABBA’s manager Stig Anderson, asked Neil Sedaka and his songwriting partner Phil Cody to write the English lyrics for Ring Ring, to ensure it was suitable for a global audience.
Neil Sedaka died on February 27, 2026 after being hospitalized earlier that day.
Important from a Eurovision perspective is that Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody wrote the English lyrics to RING RING for ABBA. They participated in 1973 with RING RING (but with Swedish lyrics) in the Swedish Eurovision selection.
