‘Children Playing War’ is a short film that will be presented at the Venice Film Festival on 4 September.

The film highlights how children are deeply affected at very young ages to play at war rather than peace.

The children play silently and it remains an innocent game with laughter and smiles and the bombs are made of paper. Sadly, however, as they grow up, these children turn into soldiers. This is a reality where no one laughs anymore and children themselves become the first victims. They are filled with fear, weeping with hardened souls. Inspired by this reflection, manager Marilanda Majello conceived the idea for a short film. Collaborating with director Mario Santocchio and assistant director Flavia Esposito, and produced by Max Films, they created the project. It is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on 4 September.

The protagonist is Matthew Hammett, a Maltese child who not only performs the song but also acts alongside other Maltese children: Rita Pisani, Caszneya Sapiano, Raquela Sapiano, Elea Marie Borg Cordona, and Luca Camilleri. Martin Sapiano and Marvin Lark also contributed their acting talents to the cast.T

The lyrics for the song are by Marvin Lark, with music by Vezio Bacci and artistic supervision by Maestro Adriano Pennino. Vocal coaching was provided by Phylisienne Brincat.
