Belarusian broadcaster BTRC has been suspended by the EBU and therefore Belarus is not allowed to participate in Eurovision events. Let’s take a look at what Belarus has brought to the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004.
The Belarusian national final for the Eurovision Songcontest 2009 consisted of a semi-final and a final. Fifteen songs participated in the competition.
The semi-final took place on 15 December 2008 at the BTRC studios in Minsk. A jury made up of music professionals selected the top five songs to qualify to the final.
The final took place on 19 January 2009 at the Sports Palace in Minsk. Public televoting selected the song Eyes That Never Lie performed by Petr Elfimov as the winner.
A new version of Eyes That Never Lie was made after winning the Belarusian national final. Belarus competed in the first semi final where they failed to qualify, finishing 13th , scoring 25 points.
