PORTUGAL WINS BARBARA DEX AWARD 2019

ESC Covers got the following Press release

After an exciting voting week we can tell you that Conan Osíris from Portugal is our new ‘Barbara Dex Award’ winner. He received the highest amount of votes. Tamta from Cyprus ended in second place and ZENA from Belarus came in third place. Our own representative Eliot ended up in fourth place. This is the second time that Portugal takes home this price, first time was in 2006.

Conan stood out in the semi final with his outfit completely in emerald green and his face jewelry. It was a close call until the end with a record amount of votes. Songfestival.be received over 4.000 votes.

The complete top 5:

  1. Portugal – Conan Osíris
  2. Cyprus – Tamta
  3. Belarus – ZENA
  4. Belgium – Eliot
  5. North-Macedonia – Tamara Todevska

In 1993 the Belgian representative Barbara Dex wore a dress on stage she designed herself. This was the talk of the town, just not in the way it should be. In 1997 two Dutch fans started handing out an award named after that dress. Every year the most notable outfit gets this infamous award.

Since 2017 our website Songfestival.be took over the organisation of this award. This is our third winner we like to present to you. Everybody was able to cast one vote through our website. This year we received over 4.000 votes, a record so far.

From today, over the next 60 days, Ida Andia of Romania and Roy van der Merwe of South Africa will look at the 41 entries in the 2019 Eurovision song contest and mention one good point and one bad point of each entry.

We start off with Albania.

Ida – good point : I liked the colours on stage – red and black, like the Albanian flag.
Bad point : I did not like her dress too much.

Roy – good point : I like the fact that their entry is in their own language.
Bad point : Difficult to follow the message of the song in Albanian – would have liked maybe a portion in English.

SAN MARINO 2019 ‘SAY NA NA NA’

Alina & Serhat
Alina & Serhat

A few days ago Serhat was at the beach with Aina Stiegler and they did a short video of Say Na Na Na with German parts. In the background are some fans and at least two of  them are NORWEGIAN, Morten Thomassen and Anders Sandvei. The song is very catchy and let’s hope he will qualify tonight for the Grand final.
