SEMI FINAL TWO 2019 – LITHUANIA

Ida Andia of Romania looks at Lithuania today and whether they will qualify for the Grand final.

After a qualification last year in Lisbon, this year this Baltic country could miss the Final. The song, Run with the lions, is pretty simple and repetitive. It is not unique and, if they will keep the same staging from the National Final, they really don’t have chance. In a year with a lot of attractive male singers, Jurijus may just be another attractive face. Unfortunately, I don’t have this song in my TOP 10 for this semi-final.

AFRI MUSIC AWARD – Song most likely to be covered in another language

Roy van der Merwe of ESC Covers website was responsible for one of the 4 side awards during the second Afri music song contest – that for SONG MOST LIKELY TO BE COVERED IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE. As ESC Covers is a website that concentrates on songs of Eurovision being covered by other people in other languages it fell into the scope of the website to introduce this also in the Afri music song contest. Three songs were considered – South Africa, Zambia and Ghana and in the end the award went to the song composed by Ylva and Linda Persson and sung by Linda Kilian from South Africa.

SEMI FINAL TWO 2019 – RUSSIA

Ida Andia of Romania tried to alternate the songs – one who makes the Final, then one who remains in the semi-final. Today is the turn of Russia.

Sergey Lazarev is a great artist in Russia and well-known in several other countries. He has a lot of experience in the Eurovision Song Contest – he participated in 2016 with the song ”You’re the only one” – he finished in TOP 3, but it was my favourite. This time, Russia sends the song ”Scream”. Maybe it could be a SCREAM for victory; I listened the first time for just ten seconds and already love it. I think Russia could be in TOP region again. Sergey could prepare an amazing stage, like in Stockholm. He sings very well live and he could move on the stage. I think it will be something interesting.

SEMI FINAL TWO 2019 – ALBANIA

Ida Andia from Romania has almost finished her discussion of the 18 songs in the 2019 Eurovision song contest from semi final 2. Today she looks at Albania.

I really appreciate Albania when, like most years, sends a song in their own language, Albanian. Jonida Maliqi has a very strong voice and is a popular artist in her country. She sings Ktheju tokes. I love the song, the instrumental, but unfortunately I do not see her qualifying. The lyrics transmit an important message – the return of those who have gone to other countries. The song is more touching because it is in Albanian, so the population of Albania, no matter where they are currently living, will surely understand the message.

SEMI FINAL TWO 2019 – ROMANIA

Ida Andia from Romania today discuss the chances of her home country to qualify to the Grand final at the 2019 Eurovision song contest.

Frankly, I have tried to be as objective as I could with Romania, being my country. Ester Peony is a known singer in Romania who has collaborated with numerous artists from the country (with whom she has also released videos that have reached millions of views – ”Sub Aripa Ta” with Veșcan; English: ”Under your wing” ) and has original songs. When I listened to the song ”On a Sunday” for the first time, I realized it had something magical, something that Romania had not sent before at Eurovision. From the first listening, I hoped that this will be the entry of Romania in Israel. The way Ester moves on stage, her voice, the song – I think all this will make a good number in the semifinal and Romania could make a rematch – last year was the first non-qualifying of Romania – this time it could qualify in the Grand Final in Tel Aviv.

SEMI FINAL TWO 2019 – ARMENIA

Ida Andia of Romania continues with her predictions as to which 10 songs from semi final 2 will make it to the Grand final. She looks at Armenia today.

Armenia sends Srbuk with a strong voice and her song: ”Walking out”. I think that this song could qualify very easy because it sounds good and it has a strong message – the lyrics are written by the co-writer of Armenia’s 2014 entry performed in Copenhagen by Aram MP3 – ”Not Alone”. (I liked all the entries of Armenia in the recent years).
