TOP 10 EUROVISION ARTISTS DUETS

By Steve Humphreys (Australia)

One of my favourite moments from back in Vienna 2015, was seeing just how well contestants Mans Zelmerlow (Sweden) & Guy Sebastian (Australia) got on together during that week. Then this great freindship even transcended onto the Eurovision scoreboard, when both countries gave each other 12 points. There was even talk of a future duet between Mans and Guy, that would be special. This has got me thinking how many times has two stars of the past Eurovision Song Contests have actually got together to make a duet? besides covering a Eurovision entry, itself.

So  I did some searching around and came up with my own

Top 10 Eurovision artists duets.

1. Maria Haukaas Storeng & Måns Zelmerlöw- ‘Precious to Me’

2. Christer Björkman & Shirley Clamp- La Vie/ This is My Life

3. Agnetha Faltskog & Tomas Ledin- Never Again

4. Johnny Logan & Nicole – No One Makes Love like You/Niemand liebt so wie du

(composed by Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger)

5. Elisabeth Andreassen & Tor Endresen- All over the World (MGP 15)

6. Olivia Newton-John & Cliff Richard- Suddenly (From Xanadu movie)

7. Timoteij Feat Alexander Rybak-Vända Med Vinden

8. Malena Ernman & Sarah Dawn Finer – Sancta Lucia (2013)

9. Jan Johansen & Jill Johnson- Let it be me

10.  Anita Skorgan Med Jahn Teigen- Friendly

If you know of some other Eurovision duets, let us know in the comments,

Footnote: When putting this Top 10 together I realised that just one artist that actually technically should not be on the list, as they have not appeared on a Eurovision Song Contest stage, Who is that?

that’s Timoteij. I think this is okay as I recon they will make it to Eurovision one year in the not too distant future.(fingers crossed) (also the fantastic Sarah Dawn Finer made it as an interval act in Malmo)

  1. Roy van der Merwe says:

I can add two duets, actually it is the same song by sung by the same male in partnership with two females.
The male is Jan Johansen and the two females are Jill Johnson and Elisabeth Andreassen
The song is KOMMER TID, KOMMER VAR

  2. I have heard Kommer tid Kommer var as a track on Jan Johansens second album 2 yet I never realised he was singing with Jill & Bettan on this duet, great find. There must be more?
I know there’s a lot more when you consider all the Melo artists who duet together, that’s why I kept to Eurovision artists only.

  3. Dennis W. F says:

Natalie of Cascada and Robin Stjernberg did performed a duet version of Robin’s “You” not too long after Malmö

    • Roy van der Merwe says:

I thought of NICOLE and OLSEN BROTHERS who did EIN BISSCHIEN FRIEDEN – so maybe Steve can do a list of such people covering euro songs

  4. Dennis W. F says:

Oh never mind I skipped right over the “except Eurovision entries” part

  5. Dennis W. F says:

Nikki of Ell/Nikki and Dima Bilan released the duet “Come Into My World.” In 2012. If I recall, I think there was a Russian version in addition to an English version.

  6. Herluis Alvarado says:

Also at the Russian NF of 2012, Dima Bilan and Yulia Volkova from t.A.t.U almost went to compete in Eurovision 2012 with the song ”Back to Her Future” as well. After their Eurovision attempt they released the Russian version of the song and hey did together tour concerts in Russia as well.

Ani Lorak & Philip Kirkorov they did several duet in the Russian Television as well.

Sirusho and Sakis Rouvas also collaborated together in the song ”SEE”. Zeljko Joksimovic too did a duet Dino Merlin as well.

    • Roy van der Merwe says:

Thanks Herluis, I forgot the Dima and Yulia song in the Russian selection – everybody thought it would win over GRANNIES.

  7. Roy van der Merwe says:

I was playing today several songs of SIMONE of AUSTRIA in duet with CHARLY BRUNNER (one of the Brunner and Brunner brothers) and he was one of the composers of Petra Frey’s 1994 entry – so technically he qualifies, I love their songs – have about 6.

  8. Emily Smith says:

Anouk and Douwe Bob have a great duet. I don’t know if this counts when Douwe hasn’t competed yet!
