On 30 November 2016, it was announced that Owe Thörnqvist, who was born on the 12th of March 1929 in Uppsala had been selected to take part in the third semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2017 with the song Boogieman Blues. It was going to be his début at the contest. After completing his military service and while studying Political Science at Uppsala University, in 1953, Thörnqvist produced his first revue in Uppsala, and in 1955 his first record was released. His musical style includes rock, ballroom rumba and calypso. Most Eurovision fans have never heard of him and ESC Covers had not even seen a picture of him or heard a song from him and now he went last night direct to the final in the Swedish selection. He came across to us similar to Serhat last year who is much younger than he did not get into the final. Will Eurovision fans embrace Owe if he wins the ticket to Kyiv for Sweden?
