OGAE International Eurovision Song Contest Poll
Every year since 2007, OGAE has conducted a pre-Eurovision Song Contest poll. This poll involves every OGAE national club organising an internal poll of the current year’s songs using the Eurovision voting system known to us all (the Top 10 receives scores of 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). After the clubs have conducted the poll and tallied the results, they are sent to OGAE International who combine all the national club votes to come up with an overall result. Members from OGAE clubs whose country is not competing (e.g. Turkey in 2015), can also participate.
Over the years the results of the poll have been quite accurate. On four occasions the entire OGAE fan base has predicted the winner and come close on three other occasions. As shown in Table A below, the winners predicted by the fans were Serbia (2007), Norway (2009), Sweden (2012) and Denmark (2013).
Between 2012 and 2014 OGAE Rest of World club fans have come close to predicting the winners. In 2012, we placed Sweden 2nd, in 2013 we placed Denmark 5th and in 2014 we placed Austria 8th (see Table B below). In 2015 we were spot on, successfully selecting Sweden as the winner. The full results of the voting by Rest of the World in the 2015 OGAE International ESC Poll can be found here.
